We have been having some pluming issues for a couple of months, most notably the lack of flushing and the sewage backing up into the tub, not pretty before Christmas. We thought that we had cleared it up (Brian got a pipe snake and fished out a wad of "stuff".) Flushing resumed and the tub emptied.
But alas trouble returned and now we are replacing the drain line from where it leaves the house to the street.
Brian is doing the digging to save from having to pay a plumber to dig a hole in our yard, and we found some nice plumbers to lay the pipe in their off time on the cheap, so we are saving a lot of money.
The Weather was so nice yesterday that Viola and I put out a sheet and watched the dig.

Since the house was built in 1928 the sewage pipe is made of terra cotta, which is not sealed at the joints so the roots just work their way in. So besides the carpet of small roots we found inside the pipe there was also this big chunk of a thing helping its self to our home grown fertilizer.
