Row Row Row Your Boat

Well, row your rented boat.
For the past week Brian and I have been looking forward to today. This was our first day to take the family kayaking out at the beach and we thought that it was going to be our new family activity and were even considering buying the kayak at the end of the day. It went a bit differently than we had planned.
We started the day with a nice big breakfast at The Breakfast Club on Tybee.
The put in spot was right where the back river dumps into the ocean so it was a bit of a rough crossing to this beach. Viola screamed and cried the entire way. Poor Brian had to do all of the paddling, fighting the wind and current with every dip, dip, and swing.
We got out to take a breather and Viola immediately put some distance between herself and the kayak.
She did enjoy playing on the beach though. This child has no fear of the water, which could be a bad thing.
We decided to give it another go and headed for a small calm inlet. The reaction was no better. It wasn't long before we decided to turn around and head back to the beach to enjoy our picnic.
Viola liked that part too, especially since she got to remove her life jacket.
The sand was flying on this beach so we left the camera in a plastic bag. I like the effect. It reminds me of using my old Holga (all plastic camera) in college.
Happy in the kayak as long as I have raisins and there is no water under it.
Then we combed the beach for shells. Viola inherited a keen shell finding sense from her father.
Look Papa.
As the tide came in the water seemed to get more rough. We were a bit nervous about the voyage back across the channel.
We did make it, as you have probably surmised since I am able to post these photos. Brian doing all of the paddling again. And poor Viola wore herself out so much that she even fell asleep standing up in the boat.
Guys, I don't think that we are ready for a kayak.
