The Vacation...Finally

I know that you have all been checking this blog every day and wandering what happened to the Newells? Well, we're still here but there has just been a lot going on in the past month that has hindered my ability to blog. But alas, the Grand Circle road trip is ready.

Here we are heading off into the desert in the rented Rav4, I'm not sure that Viola know what is ahead of her for the next seven days.
We started to see pretty things not long into the drive. Most notably the Virgin River Gorge.

You get to drive along in this very tight river bed with giant rocks on either side of the road, very pretty. We can't figure why this is not a national park.

The first night we stayed in Springdale, UT just outside of Zion National Park. The town is nestled in between beautiful red cliffs. This family photo was taken by the small river running right behind our hotel. Gorgeous.
